AIS, a strong believer of “Health is Wealth” celebrates International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2023

International Yoga Day was celebrated at the school premises with full fervor where the students from Pre-Primary to class XII participated. The assembly was addressed by our Director-Principal: Mrs. Davinder Sahni where she spoke about ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which means aspiration for ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future.’
The Yoga session was organized by the representatives from the Art of Living organization. They explained that Yoga helps in balance the body and brain. Researcher found out that a lot of people suffering from mental health issues and psychosomatic problems have benefitted from yoga. Yoga is not only beneficial for mental health problems but for overall well-being. Regular yoga practice reduces stress and improves symptoms of anxiety and depression. Yoga has become a global movement. It is a source of strength, harmony and peace.
The team demonstrated a few asanaas which were then exhibited by the students and the teachers and a keen interest was taken by our Director-Principal Ma’am. A few of the asanaas done by the students were: Utthita Hastapadasana (Extended hands and feet pose), Utkatasana (Chair pose), Kapal Bhati (Skull Shining breathing technique), Surya Namaskar, Pranayam.


The session was then followed by the pledge and prayer. Post which our Director-Principal Ma’am concluded by thanking the team of Art of Living for such a divine session organized by them, hoping that the students will imbibe yoga and meditation in their day-to-day life in order to improve concentration. She also concluded that Yoga is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage. Yoga is an ancient science of wisdom about living a healthy life and can be incorporated into everyday life to make life easier.
